SHORT BIO

Maria Rizzo’s paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums in New York state, including the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, the Tyler Art Gallery at SUNY Oswego, the Wild Center in Tupper Lake, the View Art Center in Old Forge, the Wilson Art Gallery at Le Moyne College, the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, and the Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg.

Rizzo’s work is included in permanent collections at SUNY Oswego, Upstate Cancer Center, at the Onondaga Free Library and at SUNY Empire State College in Syracuse, New York.

Rizzo is the recipient of several awards and honors, including being the recipient of the Syracuse City School District’s Best of Show and People’s Choice for the 2024 On My Own Time Art Exhibit, the recipient of the 2021 SAEC Purchase Award at the 58th Annual Juried Art Show at the Tyler Art Gallery in Oswego, and the winner of the 2016 SUNY Empire State College’s 8th Annual Art Competition. Rizzo is also the recipient of the 2014 Individual Artist Commission Grant from CNY Arts Decentralization Program, and the 2013 Curator-in-Residence at The Tech Garden in Syracuse, NY.
