My paintings capture the essence of trees and nature, serving as a response to landscapes that deeply resonate with me. While some pieces are direct interpretations from life, I am most drawn to transforming the real world through my love for soothing, dreamlike color palettes—rich purples, deep greens, and calming blues.

My approach to painting is shaped by the complexity of the subject. When working from life, I begin with a detailed pencil sketch, which I transfer onto canvas. I then establish the chiaroscuro—the balance of light and dark—through a monochromatic pittura del fondo. This underpainting serves as the foundation, upon which I build layers of velatura, delicate glazes of color that enhance depth and realism.

For more evocative nature scenes, my process is more fluid and intuitive. I start with expressive blue-brown washes and bold, gestural marks, allowing the composition to evolve organically. What begins as an abstraction slowly transforms into a landscape—suggestive, atmospheric, and deeply personal.

The term velatura embodies my artistic process: a meticulous layering of color and light that constructs a dreamlike yet tangible reality. Through this technique, I seek to evoke a sense of tranquility, wonder, and connection—inviting viewers to step into landscapes that feel both familiar and outwordly.
